Overview

Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ was founded durring the early 14th century in winter of the year 1345, by Shêpí Zacwafqehgbävle. The establishment of Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Shêpí Zacwafqehgbävle struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ as a prison colony.

Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ was built using the conventions of Dwarvern durring the early 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ is buildings are arranged arround a network of broad cobblestone streets which form a diamond shaped grid, where each diamond verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller diamond has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town emploies a series of defencive earthworks and fences to provide minimal protection against wild beasts and smaller groups of intelegent foes. Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ's somewhat suffishent has sufferd soem light damage, reducing its function a little in some spots, but could almsot certainly preform as expected... Though some of the worse spots could lead to the loss of defenders lives if attackers identified the weaknesses ahead of time.

A look around Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ gives you an uneasy feeling. Everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or both. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring jsut long enough for it to be uncomfortable.

Cultural Notes

Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used embraces individualism and experimentation. It emerged as a movement against traditional, classical styles and sought to make buildings dynamic and fun while breaking the rules. The style incorporated elements of previous architectural styles in exaggerated and whimsical ways. Traditional, conservative leanings were void in this era, with most scholars of architecture agreeing it was a time of “anything goes.”.

Due to the actions of local Kami, winter is long in Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ.

The Tooth Fairy near Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves line dance to channel Charm energies of tier 2 via speaking in tongues.

POI

History

Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ is in secret rebellion against their ostensible liege, having cut deals with his enemies, plotted to betray him for their own gain, or bridled under his tyranny and sought a better lord. The community’s leadership is all in on this plot, and outside viceroys or representatives are being kept carefully ignorant of the reality. The common folk may be oblivious to the truth, though they’ll doubtless have felt the same motivations and promptings that convinced their leaders to turn traitor.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ was attacked by soldiers from another nation, with orders to raid Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ lost 133 people, 374 livestock, and 47 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 225, when members of Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ's militia enacted an operation to secure a particular bridge to utilize it for a specific task. The operation was complicated by extremely hostile wildlife which took many out of action. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in victory for Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Eg Qÿyd Od̄ÿ's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
